We are announcing the  Latin American Workshop on Sparsely Connected Systems: Porous and Granular Materials to be held at Centro Atómico Bariloche.
Sparsely connected systems, and particularly granular and porous materials, have been the subject of scientific and technological interest for a very long time. However, during the last couple of decades we have witnessed a growing interest in these subjects with research results covering from the more basic to the more applied aspects. The aim of this workshop is to gather members of the many Latin American groups working in these subjects as well as a few selected researchers from USA and Europe promoting and enhancing the contacs, the exchange of ideas and formation and creating a forum of disscusion of their work. This workshop is one in a series of such events organized at the initiative of the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, NM, USA) under its Consortium of the Americas for Interdisciplinary Science to foster collaboration among the University of New Mexico and Latin American scientists.
